Molly

Hi. I’m Molly! I’m a family and portrait photographer in Nashville, Tennessee with a love for family, friends, and oldies music. My style can best be described with three simple phrases: Joyful. Lovely. Purely life.

I want my clients to be able to look at their Simply M photos for years to come and be immediately brought back to that day and time. Documenting the natural moments in life is my goal as a photographer…because aren’t those the ones we care about the most? Emotions are (happily!) a huge part of my life, and they mesh into my photography as well – just as I’d want them to!

I would love to hear from you about scheduling a session. Please contact me at molly@simplyMphotography.com so we can start planning your beautiful photographs!

Beth and I have been friends since elementary school (she was my first *best* friend – we even have a BFF necklace to prove it), and I really love where our friendship has gone over the years. She changed schools in 7th grade, but we did our best to keep up during a pre-Facebook time. She and I would write letters to one another during our college years (she at Ole Miss, me at Tennessee Tech) and I think we all know how exciting it was to get mail at college! Though we didn’t get to talk all that often, I still felt close to her, but wished we could have a chance to see each other more.

I was in her wedding in 2006, and a few years after that, she and her husband Jamie moved just a couple of streets away me! She had begun her stationery design business, and I was starting up my photography, so we decided to catch up and talk business over coffee. That one visit has sparked near-weekly coffee runs to our favorite place in Brentwood, many “hey, what if I did THIS with my business”-emails, and overall fun friend conversations that usually include laughing at our younger selves (example: “Oh my gosh, why did I wear overalls so often? Why?!”).

Beth is so, so talented and a fantastic gal all around. She talked to me a while ago about photographing her headshots, and I am happy to share them with you today! If you need stationery, invitations, or anything of the like, she is your girl! Please check out her work at www.bethhartdesigns.com and view her inspirational blog at http://bethhartdesigns.blogspot.com.

They have been friends since college (but grew up just a few towns away from one another), and wanted photos documenting their fun and funny friendship. I loved spending time with these two and seeing all the things that made their relationship what it is – old fancy hats, pictures from college and their sorority days, snorkeling/scuba gear – we should all hope to have friendships as strong as this one!

Thank you, Sarah Elizabeth and Jessica! Loved spending time with you two!

Hey, May! You are one of my favorite months. Why? Because it’s finally warm enough to wear skirts and flip flops on a daily basis. I’m so glad you’ve arrived!

1 - The Luminous Portrait by Elizabeth Messina :: This is my next book purchase, no doubt. Elizabeth is a famed photographer who specializes in using lovely natural light (Me too! Except for the whole “famed photographer” thing). One of my goals for 2012 is to read more educational photography books, not just blogs, and I feel this will be the perfect addition to my reading list!

2 – Cash Mobs :: We’ve all heard about flash mobs, but I learned about the cash version on the Today Show this morning. The general idea? “To encourage people to go into small, local businesses and spend their money, en masse, to give the business owner a little bit of economic stimulus”…I think this is a fan-tas-tic idea. Matt Lauer said the groups each choose one day to assemble and agree to each spend at least $20 in the store – very doable, I believe. With the startling rise of chain-everythings, small businesses have had to fight tooth and nail to stay relevant and, well, in business! Be sure to check out this page to find one near you.

3 – Eric Hutchinson’s new album :: ‘Moving Up Living Down’ was released last month, and I finally got a chance to listen to it yesterday. Loved every single song! Eric’s last album came out in 2007, and I was lucky enough to see him in concert at 12th & Porter a few years ago. Though the AC was completely out (mid-summer, I think), it was still one of the best, most entertaining concerts I’ve been to! Very glad for the new album!

Fun, fun, FUN engagement session with Dana and Steve! I was connected with them through Melissa and Robert (whose wedding I can’t wait to photograph in just over a week!), and I’m so glad we met. They are a great couple that I look forward to getting to know a little better.

Enjoy their happy photos together – including a miniature “Bride” and “Groom”!

What a lovely couple!

They had their first date at Tayst, and Steve was creative in proposing to her there, as well! We were lucky to be let in before they were officially open to take a few pictures. (Thank you, great Tayst employees!)

So wonderful to meet you both! I hope you enjoy every minute of your engagement!

I am so, so glad I was able to attend Jenny Cruger’s photography workshop last weekend. Jenny was wonderful in leading us through every aspect of running a photography business – from guiding shoots to choosing products to providing a memorable client experience. To say I learned a lot is an understatement!

We were able to assist her in two shoots: one of a sweet family, one of a five-day-old baby girl. I enjoyed watching Jenny’s laid-back, yet effective, style of getting the shots she and the clients wanted. I can’t wait to implement the many tips that she gave us for my next sessions!

If you are looking for an insightful, super-beneficial (yes, that’s a word!) workshop, Jenny’s is the one for you! She’ll be holding her next one in downtown Franklin on November 3rd and 4th. Here are a few details about it – email Jenny to sign up!

Working hard!

Jenny really took the time to calm the baby and create the most soothing atmosphere possible

Thank you, Jenny – for sharing your passion and knowledge with us!

My cousin’s husband, Dale Conder, is running for Circuit Court Judge for Madison, Chester, and Henderson counties in Tennessee, and they needed some family pictures – I was so glad they asked me to do them, because I don’t get to spend enough time with my extended family!

Instead of showing you all of the photos we took that day (as cute as the entire family is!), I wanted to share just a few of the girls relaxing. They were telling me jokes and stories about school, and something about these photos really made me think. I want to take many more like these with families in the future – natural, being silly, being themselves. I hope you enjoy!

You knew I had to show off the future Circuit Court judge and his lovely wife, right? Good luck, Dale!

I can’t remember when or where exactly we were introduced, but I know that I’ve liked Elizabeth since the first time I met her. She’s the kind of person who can always make you laugh and has great stories to tell! She is a wonderful friend, as well as a talented writer. She asked me a few weeks ago for some photos to display on her blog, and I was happy to oblige!

You can find her witty, always-entertaining website at www.edhyndman.com. She has two fun series going on currently: ‘Things I Like Tuesdays’ (check out today’s!) and ‘Friday Five‘. I love reading what she has to say, and I am completely unbiased! Ok, that may not be completely true, but I do think she truly is a fabulous writer who has an interesting voice and style in what she has to say.

 For her ‘Friday Five’!

Thanks for reading today, and make sure to visit Elizabeth’s site, too!
